CONNECT WITH YOUR COMMUNITY

You know what is also good for the soul? Connecting with others and your community! It plays a big part in maintaining positive wellbeing and there are heaps of ways to get involved:

  • Volunteering opportunities as a Wellness Ambassador
  • Fundraising events for community organisations
  • Workshop series for open discussion and personal development
  • Mental health awareness events
  • Random acts of kindness to let your peers know they are supported

As always, these activities will remain free of charge or as heavily subsidised, as they continue to be funded by SSAF.

GEORGIA PRICE

WELLNESS AMBASSADOR

“I chose to volunteer with the Wellness Ambassadors for UniLife to become more connected to other students at UOW. Throughout this experience, I have gained wonderful friendships as well as a greater understanding of the importance of wellbeing and how essential it is for students at UOW.

This experience has helped me to develop my time management skills, communication skills and the importance of teamwork. I have achieved this by volunteering at events such as Bend & Snack and Mindful May.

I have enjoyed and learnt so much from this experience and would highly recommend students to consider volunteering as an extra-curricular activity.”

DIFFICULT TIMES

We all have difficult times that can be full-on and overwhelming – it’s a totally normal response. Whether something has happened to you directly or it’s affecting a friend or family member, difficult situations can quickly take over your thinking and impact your sense of wellbeing.

At UOW you are surrounded by a community of people who are here to support you. There are heaps of support services available on campus that can support you during these tricky times – you are not alone!

Remember! Don’t just rely on websites – face to face counselling or support is important too. If you are concerned with what is going on in your life or your personal welfare, please make an appointment to speak to someone.
